The official DCF Youth Club blog
DCF Youth Club is designed for the young people at DCF, and also
their friends, and is geared for the secondary school age (11-18
year olds). Our Little Livewires club is for those aged 5-7, and
Livewires is for those aged 7-11.
This new blog is designed for all
those at Youth club - but feel fee to follow it even if you're too
old or too young to come along to club, as God's Word has no age
limits!
Do
everything you do...
Saturday 26th
November 2011
One of the newer videos we have
been playing on Friday evenings recently is of Steven Curtis
Chapmans' song Do Everything. This awesome song has a great
tune, but as with any decent song it has great lyrics too - and here
we are reminded that regardless of what we are doing today,
tomorrow, next year or throughout our life, we are to do it for
God's glory.
Remember Jesus said that if we
want to save our life we must lose it (see Matt 16:25, Mark 8:35,
Luke 9:24 and Luke 17:33) - that means doing everything for God's
glory, and not our own. Have a great weekend - and try and
come along to church or Fire Exit tomorrow (or both!).

What
about the change?
Friday 24th
June 2011
This week I've not been able to
make up my mind what music to listen to on my journey to and from
work, and so I've had the iPod on shuffle - which can be a scary
thing as I keep listening to songs that I have no idea who they are
by, what album they are from - and no, it's not old age. At
least not yet :-)
One familiar song came on
yesterday - one that I've not heard in a little while - and I
thought would be good to share. The song is The Change by
Steven
Curtis Chapman [iTunes]
[Spotify]
This song talks about all the
things we seem to end up with as Christians - such as scripture or
Christian slogans on bracelets, key-rings, t-shirts, stickers and so
on - which are a great little reminders to have - but the most
important change when you become a Christian (and even if you have
been one for years) is not what's printed on your T-shirt, but
what's written on your heart. Are you living a more Godly,
holy, Bible-based life now than you were this time last year?
You see, the change on the inside
is far more important than the change on the outside.
Outwardly changes are good, but they should be in response to what
is going on inside - not to cover up the fact that, sadly, sometimes
there isn't much happening on the inside.
Here's the lyrics to the song -
try and have a listen online (see links above) or ask for it at
Youth Club this week.
Well I got myself a T-shirt that says what I believe
I got letters on my bracelet to serve as my ID
I got the necklace and the key chain
And almost everything a good Christian needs, yeah
I got the little Bible magnets on my refrigerator door
And a welcome mat to bless you before you walk across my floor
I got a Jesus bumper sticker
And the outline of a fish stuck on my car
And even though this stuff's all well and good, yeah
I cannot help but ask myself--
What about the change
What about the difference
What about the grace
What about forgiveness
What about a life that's showing
I'm undergoing the change, yeah
I'm undergoing the change
Well I've got this way of thinking that comes so naturally
Where I believe the whole world is revolving around me
And I got this way of living that I have to die to every single day
'Cause if God's Spirit lives inside of me, yeah
I'm gonna live life differently
I'm gonna have the change
I'm gonna have the difference
I'm gonna have the grace
I'm gonna have forgiveness
I'm gonna live a life that's showing
I'm undergoing the change
Have a great weekend - maybe
we'll see you at club on Friday and Sunday? Don't forget
church on Sunday morning too ;-) God bless, Sim.
