Sunday School (and crèche)

Every Sunday during the teaching time (except during summer holidays)

There is a crèche room available every Sunday with a variety of toys for children up to 3 years old. Parents may take their children to the crèche room while the message is given in church but the facilities can be used during any part of the service should they become restless (that's the children - not the parents!!).

Sunday School takes place in the main church hall during the teaching time on a Sunday morning, and is for children from 3 years up to 11 years. There are three separate Sunday School classes:

Class 1:
For children from 3 years until they begin school- led by Shirley Smith. They have bible stories and simple craft activities to illustrate the story. While all classes are important, this is a vital introduction to God's Word.

Class 2:
Led by Jill Holman, this class is for children in school years 1, 2 and 3. The children have age related bible stories with craft work whilst having discussions on the stories relating them to everyday life.

Class 3:
This class is for children in school years 4, 5 and 6 and is led by Maureen Forder. The children are given an overview of each book of the Bible and God’s plan (including the history and geography) whilst looking at various topics including prayer, Israel and the Jews, the law, Jesus’ ministry, the church today. They are given a foundational understanding of the reasons for being a Christian and are encouraged to think for themselves.

On the last Sunday of each month the children join together for their ‘worship time’. Whilst there is quite a range of ages, from 3 to 11 it is a good introduction to church where all ages mix together and worship god together. The older ones are encouraged to help the little ones in singing songs – songs well known to them but also new songs are introduced. The leaders help the children to understand the words they are singing and to hopefully develop a love of praising god. The songs and music are led by Katie Clague – a member of the worship group.
