Communion
The
first Sunday
of each month from 10:30am-12:15pm (approx)
Once a month, on the first Sunday
of each month, our all-age family service (DCF:AM)
includes a time together sharing the bread and the wine as Jesus
instructed ‘in remembrance of Me’.
Sharing the bread and the wine of
communion is a special time for Christians to celebrate what Jesus
has done for them, by paying for their sin through his death on the
cross - saving us from the punishment rightfully due to us.
When the children of Israel were
in slavery in Egypt they were instructed to mark their lintels and
doorposts by the blood of a perfect lamb, and as a result were
'passed over' by the Angel of Death. In the same way,
Christians are marked by the blood on an innocent lamb - Jesus, the
Lamb of God - so that we will not die. By rising from the dead
Jesus has also defeated death, and in doing so we may spend eternity
with Him.
