About
Calvary Chapel
In short, Calvary Chapel is a non-denominational church movement
focused on the inerrancy of the Bible and the expository teaching
from Genesis to Revelation.
What this means is that there is
not a typical organisation directing how each church should operate
- rather each church simply shares the same dedication to teaching
God's Word (the Bible) verse by verse. This means that we have
to study the 'difficult' verses as well as our favourite ones,
resulting in a better understanding of the Bible as a whole - indeed
Paul said (when writing to Timothy) that ALL scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Tim 3:16, emphasis
added).

To understand a little more of
the background to the Calvary Chapel movement, take a look at the
following from
www.calvarychapel.com;
In 1965 Pastor Chuck Smith
started his ministry at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. Beginning with a
mere 25 people, he saw God bless his simple, yet consistent style of
teaching straight through the Bible.
Today Calvary Chapel has grown to over 1,500 churches worldwide.
With a genuine heart for the lost, Pastor Chuck made room in his
ministry for a generation of hippies, surfers, and drug addicts.
This generated a stirring of the Holy Spirit, which spread from the
California coast to the Atlantic and beyond. This movement was
instrumental in bringing thousands of young people to Jesus Christ
during the 60s and 70s in what was known as the Jesus People
Movement.
In the UK and Ireland there now are approaching
50 Calvary Chapel churches, and we have fellowship with them at
various conferences, and also a number of the church family here
visit other Calvary's while on holiday in the UK. Click

Additionally DCF (also known as Calvary Chapel
Deal) is part of the Fellowship of Evangelical Free Churches (FIEC)
because of their grounding in the Word of God.
